Living in Navarre
Further east, with beach access and more space for the money. Suits buyers happy to trade drive time for square footage.
- Buyers wanting more house and yard
- Buyers who want beach proximity without island ownership
- People whose work is east of Pensacola
Navarre sits east along the coast, in Santa Rosa County, and it is where a lot of buyers land when they want more room than the closer-in areas give them.
Who it works for
Buyers who want more room than their budget reaches closer in. If the house you want is out of reach nearer the city, Navarre is usually the first place I point people. Beach access is genuinely good and the pace is quieter.
The honest trade-off
Distance. Navarre is a real commute to the Pensacola side of the area, and there is not a clever route around that. If you are reporting to NAS Pensacola every morning, be honest with yourself about what that adds up to over a three year tour.
If your work is east, or flexible, or remote, the calculation flips and Navarre starts looking like the best value on the map.
What to check before you commit
Drive the commute at your real hour, in both directions. Confirm school zoning with the district. Get flood zone determination and an insurance conversation started early on any specific property, especially the closer you are to the water.
Navarre: common questions
Is Navarre a practical place to live if you are stationed in the area?
Navarre is a common choice for service members, though the right answer depends on which installation you report to. It is further east than Pensacola, so the drive to NAS Pensacola is a meaningful commitment and should be tested at your actual report time before you commit.
What do you get in Navarre that you do not get closer in?
Generally more space, both house and lot, for a comparable budget, along with beach access. The trade is drive time to the Pensacola side of the area.
